What We Believe

It’s not the shape of the building that makes us a temple, any more than what happens inside. We are a community of believers, committed to Jesus Christ, accepting that God, the Holy Spirit dwells with us and within us.

We are a congregation who gather in the name of Jesus, and believe that he is present among us.

We have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and found forgiveness and healing at the foot of the cross. This has transformed us and opened our eyes to the needs of people around us. With God's help we endeavour to minister to these needs. We experience God’s presence with us and we are further changed into His likeness, as we continue our spiritual journey.

We are members of the world-wide Salvation Army; some are officers, others soldiers and yet others adherent members.  But membership is not essential to attend Sunday meetings and to participate in many other aspects of church life. Many, but not all, wear the Salvation Army uniform or insignia as a means of witness and indicating availability in the service of Christ.

We are a Salvation Army corps, with appointed leaders and a supporting leadership team. Together they undertake a range of responsibilities, including administrative tasks which enable the good function of Bromley Temple Corps.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
